| The artist: Robert Schroeder Robert Schroeder was born in May 1955 in Aachen, a city in the western area of Germany. His prevailing youth interests were turned to the technical-technical and electric-technical things, although also always a certain inclination became apparent to the musical. At the age of 13 years Robert got his first music instrument, a guitar. Herewith he collected his first experiences and formed with it the coarse outlines of his music taste. It appeared very soon that his interest counted more for the experimental sounds which he tried to insert then also with made unfamiliar guitar sounds in the rock music topical at that time. In 1970 he put aside at first once his music instrument to devote himself again more to the electrical engineering. In the free time of course only still the school was there, thus possibly till 1972. In the course of the following 4 years Schroeder specialised in the development and production of music electronic instruments and devices. From 1974 his musical and electric-technical interests ran in parallel and generated with him new, more concrete ideas and images of experimental and spherical music. Stimulated by musicians and groups like Pink Floyd, Kraftwerk, Klaus Schulze, Can, also Deep Purple or Emmerson, Lake & Palmer, Robert Schroeder strengthened his independent music style and sound with individually fitted, from himself developed and made synthesizer systems. Between 1977 and 1988 Robert has recorded his first own Electronic Music with his self built synthesizers. In 1978 Robert's son Klaus was born. It was Robert's wish to get the well known German Electronic Music pioneer Klaus Schulze to the godfather of his son Klaus. And he did. There originated a friendship. In 1978 Robert Schroeder signed his first artist's contract with likewise this year of Klaus Schulze founded IC-label. Robert Schroeder was discovered and promoted by Klaus Schulze. Robert's debut album Harmonic Ascendant (released by IC / distributed by Warner Music) gave him international success in 1979. Since then Robert has released over 20 LPs and CDs. With Universal Ave. under the alias of Double Fantasy in 1987 he reaches the US-charts. Schroeder's productions receive a large acknowledgement for both musical and artistic merits, and also for special technical characteristics. For example Harmonic Ascendant (1979) is characterised by the combination of synthesizers, piano, guitar and cello. Galaxy Cygnus-A (1982) is a journey to far off galaxies in co-operation with the Max-Planck-Institute (Effelsberg, Eifel, FRG) and Brain Voyager (1985) is a production utilising the "dummyhead" technology for stereoscopic sound production for listening to a film in 3-D. Schroeder's live performances are very special events with acoustical and optical highlights. ( goto complete discography ). After the publication of CD D.MO Vol.1 (1998) Robert Schroeder took a break for several years, but within this time he works on new music material, however this music he has produced was done when he was completely free and relaxed with no view to release on CD. The music he recorded during that time was filed away, but now will become brainCHIPS. In 2006 he has released the second album of his original DOUBLE FANTASY project from the end of the 80s. Robert has changed the name Double Fantasy into Food For Fantasy and the guitar player is now Phil Molto.
